Tenacity (Tenny)
KWPN-NA, 2000 Bay mare 16.2hh  Ster predicate

Tenacity is a Ster Dutch mare. A 1st Premium filly, she was the #2 placed 2 year old filly in North America for the KWPN-NA in 2002, winning her keuring as best young horse (including foals, yearlings and 2 year olds). She was awarded the Ster predicate as a 3 year old. At both inspections, the jury praised Tenacity for her modern type, correct conformation, uphill movement and supple trot.

Tenny’s dam is the Holsteiner mare Amber, (Coriolan/ Calypso I) bred by the highly successful  Hidden Creek Farm, for whom Margie Goldstein Engle rides.  This dam line is filled with some of the greatest foundation  sires to be found in modern sport horse breeding, including Calypso I,  Laertes, Marlo and Furioso.

Tenacity’s sire Ulft needs no introduction, having been one of the greatest stallions ever to stand for the KWPN;  a prolific producer of both dressage and jumper types that have competed internationally, and sire of the incomparable Olympic Ferro.

Tenacity possesses the combination of effortless movement, athleticism and physical beauty that   breeders and riders both seek.  She is sensitive, learns quickly and bonds  with her handlers.  She had just been started under saddle when we purchased her for our broodmare band and bred her to Iron Spring Farms’ Sir Sinclair for a 2006 foal. The resulting foal, Banderas, was named #3 foal for the 2006  KWPN-NA keuring tour, which numbered over 100 foals in the U.S. and Canada. The jury appreciated his "correct type" and ability to "collect and extend easily" as well as his suppleness. He was sold as an FEI prospect to FEI rider/trainer Kate Landon. We look forward to Tenny’s future foals with great excitement.

ZStar

ZStar  (Star)
KWPN-NA, 2004 Chestnut mare, 16.2hh

"Star" is a recent addition to our mare herd. We feel fortunate to have found such a nice mare.  Star has the friendly, straightforward temperament that you would expect from her bloodlines:  Darwin x Flemmingh.  She has a beautiful front end, with  nice neck connections, long lines and good leg quality. Modern  type and a balanced, correct mover, her canter looks like it will be a pleasure to ride. Sire Darwin (now deceased) continues to rank at the top of the KWPN breeding index for dressage. Darwin competed internationally at Grand Prix dressage and sired numerous successful dressage horses, notably the approved stallion,  Inspekteur, also a valued sire of dressage horses. During his stallion test, Darwin was described by the jury as a friendly, obedient stallion, with a  balanced and honest temperament, who was very willing to work. He scored 9’s for his training report, his temperament, working in the saddle and his trot. It was also noted that he was more than sufficiently talented as a jumper and cross-country horse, an attribute he no doubt inherited from his sire, Roemer

Star’s dam is the imported mare Madrima-T (Flemmingh x Visent). Madrima  has been both broodmare and competition horse. She has produced 4 foals and has competed through 2nd level garnering year end championships. Currently owned by trainer Lisa Blackmon and schooling  to 4th level. The  Madrima  foal by Zeoliet , "T-Mad Hatter" is the personal mount of trainer/competitor Ann Guptil, www.foxledgefarm.net,   and has been shown to year-end championships with Ann.  A full sibling to Madrima is "Loyal Beau" (registered as Lubert), who campaigned in Europe for the Dutch Young Riders Championship Team with the talented rider Ruby Heinrici www.rubyheinrici.nl. Ruby continues to successfully compete on the Dutch Light Tour as an adult with Loyal Beau.

Granddam is the Keur Prestatie mare, Duberta. "Prestatie" is the prestigious predicate given to mares producing at least three successful competition sport horses in Holland at the U.S. equivalent of 3rd level or more. Duberta has seven offspring who have competed in dressage from L1 through ZZ levels (5 of which are at or above U.S. 3rd level equivalent), including 2 "National Dressage Horses" at Prix St. George level.  Duberta herself competed to M2 level. We are impressed with the number of competing dressage horses this mare line has produced!

Notorious

Notorious (Tori)
KWPN-NA, 1995 Bay mare, 17.1hh
More photos and pedigree

A product of the successful DG Bar breeding program, Tori’s  highly predicated*  family has produced  top Dutch horses in North America and Europe.  Her dam, the SterPreferent "Famous" and dam’s full sister "Godiva" as well as Grand-dam "Tolinda"Keur (Gelderlander)  appear in the pedigrees of numerous Top Ten and competition horses including Grand Prix competitor "Lexus" and  the 2007 USEF/Markel Young Horse Champion (4 year olds)  Waterloo S.E.  This dam line represents multiple generations of Preferent mares in the U.S. and Netherlands. Imported sire Wanroij and Damsire Volckmar were  foundation sires for the DG Bar program and competed at FEI level dressage. Both of these stallions scored well for jumping ability during their stallion tests.

Tori is a full sister to the very successful Grand Prix dressage horse, Lexus, ridden by Tracey Lert of California. Lexus has received numerous Horse of the Year awards at FEI levels through I-2  with the USDF, California Dressage Society  and  The KWPN-NA.

Tracey describes Lexus as being particularly talented at the Passage and Piaffe.

Other siblings include:
Scandalous (Juventus x Famous) Keur
2002 USDF National Champion 3 year old filly
2002 CDS Overall Sport Horse Mare/Filly Champion
Tempo (Juventus x Famous) Keur

Winner of the 2005 DG Bar Cup for 5 year olds. Praised by the jury for her good gaits and "exemplary attitude and rideability", Tempo  was the #2 IBOP participant for 2005. A Top Ten mare in 2004, Tempo was ranked 3rd for conformation and 9th for movement in North America.

Tori  was  a 1st premium and Top Ten youngster (#7). Sadly, a  pasture injury  as a 2 y.o. caused permanent  disfigurement to her neck, severing major muscles.  However, as proof of her power and athleticism, Tori  enjoyed  a  career as an "A" circuit jumper with an amateur owner who described Tori as having good scope and form. Tori is an affectionate and intelligent mare, as well as an outstanding mother. She carries 62% Gelders blood. True to her type and bloodlines, she has a quick and powerful hind leg that reaches far under her belly and upwards.
